Distilleries
Clynelish Distillery
Just five minutes from the Links Apartments, Clynelish is one of the most northerly distilleries in Scotland. Built in 1819 for just £750, the distillery sources its water from the nearby Clynemilton Burn, which passes over gold embedded rocks to give the single malt a fruity and slightly smoky quality. Distillery tours, a visitor centre and a shop are available on site.
Glenmorangie
On the outskirts of Tain stands Glenmorangie, the owner of the tallest copper stills in Scotland. The distillery uses the finest oak caskets to produce a selection of single malts, including its unique wood finish malts. Tours, a visitor centre and a shop are available on site.
Old Pulteney
Drive north to the rugged coastline at Wick, the home of Old Pulteney. The distillery produces a 12 year-old single malt known as The Maritime Malt, a blend that takes inspiration from the seafaring heritage of its surroundings. Tours and a shop are available on site.
Balblair Distillery
Since 1790, Balblair Distillery has been producing single malt Scotch whisky and is the only distillery to sell vintage blends exclusively. Visitors can take part in personal distillery tours and learn more about Balblair's history by experiencing the sights and sounds of past years in its fascinating Time Capsule room.
Dalmore Distillery
Situated on the A9 north of Inverness and the feedback from our friends at the Sheiling is that the welcome and tour is very good.
